The pigment determined the distance travel of each component in a substance. Each component has different velocity. It goes from bottom (where we drip) to top. I guess that is why we have to wait 15-20 mins. Reading after that does not count I guess. And if we drip too much, it might travel back and give a false positive? Too little… hm…
I recalled secondary school, where we had to draw the line on the Chromatography paper, did the measurements and finally compared the measurements to a booklet and determined what’s the component. Who ever invented chromatography must be pretty proud now. It existed since 1900 in Russia by an Italian-born Scientist, just as info found from Wiki. Then developed by more and more people… 👍
