I bought an apple charger and cable from 3rd party. It’s indicated to be original and genuine. Price is about 30+ for both. From Apple store, that would be 50 - 60? Cannot remember cause I only bought the plug. Cable came with the phone. I compared them to the one I got from Apple. It looked slightly different and watching online, seems like internal structure was different. Somebody peeled to see what’s inside. Some sort of metal chip seemed different. Probably that’s what people should be aware of. In the original, safety parts were ensured. Battery would explode if it is overcharged.
Power surge and so on. It is the connection between Phone and Power source. If wrong materials or different cable materials were used, what are the charges? Does it provide the required charge or more than required, that the phone can handled or specified? Many explosion or leakage mainly caused by subpar cables. Uncertified or obtained or produced by illegal methods. Batteries were designed to be charged at different rate and capacity. Anymore or less that weren’t in its range, were unacceptable. As for phone hardware safety measures, I never truly have any experience of how well it can detects the power supplied to it. Still, any hardware has their own capabilities to fail so if you solely depended on that, probably not enough. Remember a risk assessment class, an accident won’t happen until a series of safety measures has been broken.
For example, part A know part B and part C will always be safe so if part A has any defect, it is ok. part B thinks part A and C will be in place so does part C to the other two. Then defect in A, B, C occurred at the same time. Boom. It shouldn’t be that way though, A, B and C were put in place of each other just in case either 1 failed. 99.99% confidence level must be achieved if it’s life threatening. Part A maybe inside Plug, part B inside cable, part C inside phone. Missing all three were rare but based on confidence level, it is not really 100% without defects. By illegal or non-qualified products will have lesser confidence level and defect accepted may be high. Just nice part A plug and part B cable were defects. It has already broken two safety measures. Just waiting for a lucky draw to meet their companion defective part C. Just here, probably Battery itself also has its own safety part. Lucky draw and you got the first prize. Somebody will always get Prize 1 right? partD happened to have a defect or not capable of sustaining the damages caused by part A, B and C. 💥 Everytime you broke a rule and you think nothing will happen and what if everyone think so. Every safety measure were put in place just in case any failed. You decided to remove them. Heat is product from electrical energy conversion. All electrical equipment should be kept in well ventilated areas to disperse heat source. All materials has their own operating temperature. Their safety measures were dependent on it. If the equipments were needed at a higher operating temperatures or lower, different materials will be used. Thereby, it is safe. Materials have limitation. If all range Materials were used, probably that will cause a fortune.
Same thing for anything else. Mainly, don’t trust cables even if it is hdmi or just connection. Leakage does happen. Until now, I dared not used the third party charger and cable after I saw review with short circuit. Although mine were good and operational, I am worried. Spent 30+ to buy a lesson is good enough. Why wasted a 1k+ phone. I bought from Apple again but this time got some discount although still expensive but at least it is safe. I think last year and this year, I have been spending quite a fortune on Cables and adapter alone. Each easily 10-20 dollars. The cheaper one actually spoilt but lucky thing, it didn’t damage my port. Otherwise, to replace the port is actually more work. One more thing, less precision products may damage the port. I got 5 HDMI cables and 1 splitter. 2 usb A to display port, 2 usb c to Hdmi. Just for the sake of work laptop and the new laptop I bought for work. Usb A to usb C OTG adapter. Bought it to connect phone to monitor but in the end doesn’t work… Others just converter…
BUT Why buy an expensive phone and ruined it because of a cheaper, unsafe cable or charger? Why buy an expensive computer and safe that few dollars to risk it? Anyway if it is cheap, needs to be even more careful with operation. so, normally electrical equipment, i would rather spend more from safety perspective BUT there are people who sell things more expensive to make fake products seemed real. Don’t be cheated by them. There are also products that were cheap but has good safety measures. Products pricing maybe based on production cost and branding. So normally branding would have better production cost to keep its reputation but not always.
