I was halfway through the application. Up to Education month and date. That was years back, I cannot recall le. Then I am not sure whether I have completed the application… I take this as a sign again. If I did or not just let it be. Anyway, after doing the stuff today, I felt like I spent four hours trying to connect a device from an IP address to another IP. The thing is I wasn’t trained on IT things… If I were, probably it would be a few minutes job. Then the connection ended so I asked Google again (who else 😑). Google gave me about 10 scenarios. Half of which I am not sure how to check what’s the cause of dropping LAN connection.
First, it is the cable. Change the LAN cable. That’s what I liked the most.
The rest I don’t remember… just kidding. Maybe another two like because it is static connection. When we set the ip ourselves, it may not be the most favourable connection that resulted in it dropping because it is weak. Another is some proxy setting which I kept on hearing about but not really sure what’s the real effect. I don’t study this kind of thing although it maybe basic for some. Or it wasn’t because connection always drop anyway and nobody has any idea. That makes me felt like learning system architecture or system engineering or is it IT?
Another thing is the router. I don’t remember what I have read but if all else failed after those 10 mentioned, it might be due to the router. Does a lot of LAN connection drowns the intranet? At home recently after somebody analysed our internet, our LAN can hit 900Mbps. Wifi in the room was pretty bad at 140 Mbps in comparison as we are far from the router. Then the upload is about 80 Mbps. We have one TV connected to Netflix and Disney+ which operates almost around the clock but Aunty was kind to let it rest after sometime of watching :) Then another 3 of us. Me and my sis worked via vpn though. It rarely drops like it used to when we don’t have the extender. It helps because the router is on the other end of the living room connected to the TV and we are at the other end of the house in our rooms. The walls and everything and after the Google extender my brother bought, it fixed the dropping or poor connection even though it was a 1Gbps connection. I wonder if more devices are connected via LAN, how are they distributed? Will more connection makes the connection slow in addition to the constant download and upload video? hm The poorest will then drop out? That 5 wifi already slow what about more than 5. Does the router has an extender like wifi do that can solve it? or need to add more connection points or another router will help?
I am frustrated. Anyway in the end it was the permission. I don’t even know what is that connection. Probably will need to spend sometimes reading about it but I don’t have the time yet. I still have a software to do. All in all I thought software engineer just develops the code. Never have I think about the bridges that connect hardware and software. Interesting but I don’t have time. Argh. I felt like crushed man. I am doing software that I didn’t learn. I am connecting hardware that I didn’t learn too so be amaze if it works in anyway. When will I be doing web or app? All what I have learnt before coming here, I guess they are rusty and collecting dust. The best thing that helped me was the microservices that I have attended prior to this job. It solved most of my problems though and it was that understanding that push me through. It is like the skeleton but still I know there are things that I needed correction. Other things, it was the logic and structure. But my data structures were hard to say. Do we develop before we form it or after. If we have to alter it, do we just change it or throw it away and rebuilt. Will it have less issues and more perfected in a sense that the foundation was real good or it is the same.. hm How shall I be a better software engineer.
Most of my questions weren’t answered and it has taken its toll. I know if most things were unknown, or having the lack of knowledge, there bounds to be errors. Things suddenly go haywire. Unknowns meeting unknowns. I felt like my codes were the worst code ever written… I still feel frustrated and I was taking half the day fixing a broken connection and it wasn’t solved. And when I have time, I stared at my code whiles till thinking about the stupid connection.
Is it fengshui? if it is I think all they need is a fengshui master liao. Probably that will solve the connection. I do believe in the science of it but if it is the coconut that summon back the lost plane well remember that it failed.
Maybe I don’t have the luck so I should stay away and let luck do the work. There is a timing for everything. As in, one day I went down. The bus opposite just arrived. I still have a about 100 - 150 m distance from it. I thought I am going to miss it and nope. It stayed there for quite sometime and should I chase after it but then constantly there are people running towards it so I quickly walked over and tada, I am in. I am almost late. When I reached the MRT, I got on the escalator and when I reached the train arrived. At the interchange, I walked over to another line as I went down the escalator, the train arrived. That’s a good timing but hard to come by unless I can calculate then from home. There are times it wasn’t like that but faster. There are times, I missed all of it. I think certain bus or train has certain timing. If I am able to grasp that time, will I always have the series of events that I can foretell? or will it become a series of unfortunate events.
Let’s say, if we were given ten t-shirt, how many times without feeling it, seeing it and at the first moment we wear it the right way. Will it be upside down or inside out. Why when we don’t look at it, the chances of inside out is high? The chances of how we get the things in the wrong direction is high. why is it not half half. If we don’t look carefully, it was 9 out of 10 wrong. Can we make it the other way round?
